cosmetic injections in Guildford
Botox® is a well-proven, popular and safe anti-ageing treatment for lines and wrinkles. The treatment visibly eradicates and softens lines. It also slows down the formation of lines by inhibiting excessive muscle function without diminishing facial expression.
Botox® received FDA approval for cosmetic use in 2002. There are several toxins available on the market, Botox/Vistabel®, Dysport/Azzalure® and Xeomin/Bocouture® are all toxins from Botulinum Toxin Type A®. Neurobloc® and Myobloc® are from Botulinum Toxin Type B®.
At The Bosham Clinic we mainly use Botox/Vistabel® and also use Dysport/Azzalure®. These brands have the most clinical data behind them and have been around the longest. Botox® is a prescription only medicine and for this reason, best injected by a medical Doctor. At The Bosham Clinic, we use Botox® for lines and wrinkles, bruxism (teeth grinding), migraine relief and excessive sweating.
Migraine relief and Botox®
Suffering from migraines can be debilitating and decrease your quality of life. Botox® has recently been granted FDA approval for the treatment of migraines after a large study showed that it does indeed work. We are not always sure how pain relief is achieved, but from all the information gathered by doing clinical studies, the presumed mechanism for making you headache free or giving you reduction in frequency, is the blocking of certain signals that can cause migraines. At The Bosham Clinic we will take a full medical and headache history and assess if Botox® will be indicated for you.
Excessive Sweating
Hyperhydrosis is frequent or constant excessive sweating. Sweating is your body's mechanism to cool itself. In most circumstances, it's both natural and healthy. Some people sweat in amounts greater than needed to cool the body, a condition called hyperhydrosis. Hyperhydrosis usually affects the palms of the hands, soles of the feet and underarms. Besides disrupting normal daily activities, hyperhydrosis can cause social anxiety or embarrassment. Fortunately, several options are available to treat hyperhydrosis. In severe cases, surgical procedures can be very effective at stopping sweating. At The Bosham Clinic, we use Botox® to treat excessive sweating. Botox® weakens the action of the sweat glands rather than muscles. It safe and can last up to 6 months.
