Semi-Permanent Make-Up

To finish a picture it is sometimes necessary to apply a few extra strokes. At The Bosham Clinic we feel that it is as necessary to frame the face with lovely brows as it is to decide on an initial plan of treatment.

Semi-permanent make-up, or permanent make-up as it is also known, is a revolutionary beauty treatment used to define eyebrows, eyes and lips. It will give you a subtle natural finish, creating long lasting looks to enhance your natural beauty.

Semi-permanent make-up can also be used for medical purposes. Specialised camouflage techniques can disguise and improve many medical conditions such as:

  • Reconstruction of areola/nipple
  • Scar camouflage
  • Burns
  • Reconstruction of cleft lip palate
  • Hair replacement
  • Alopecia
  • Chemotherapy
  • Wrinkle Therapy

We are fortunate to welcome award winning Alison Doughty to our clinic. She is internationally recognised as one of the World's leading experts in the permanent cosmetic industry and as "The Trainer of Trainers". Alison is known by her peers as one of the most skilled technicians in the UK, always at the forefront of latest techniques, and she shares her expertise with other technicians. Strongly committed to her career, her relentless quest is to achieve "natural looking" results in all aspects of her work.

WHAT IS SEMI-PERMANENT MAKE-UP?

It is a process whereby top quality iron-oxide pigments are implanted into the dermal layer of the skin, which (after the second visit), should last for several years. Clients are offered a patch test prior to the first procedure to see if they will have any allergic reaction to the pigment or anaesthetic used. 99.9% of people do not have any reaction at all.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO HAVE A TREATMENT?

You will need to allow 1½ hours for your first procedure. If you intend to have a "full face" (3 procedures together) then you should allow 2 hours in total.

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Semi-Permanent Make-Up should last for several years. Over that time the colour will fade and break down. It is suggested that you come back to us for a "top up" procedure every 18 months / 2 years to keep the look complete and fresh. A "top up" appointment is half the current full treatment price.

DOES IT HURT?

Some clients feel no discomfort at all - others feel minimal discomfort. We use topical anaesthetics to minimise discomfort. Clients say that having a procedure is similar to having their eyebrows plucked or their legs waxed. Once the procedure is complete there is no discomfort whatsoever.

WILL I BE ABLE TO GO OUT WITHOUT EVERYONE NOTICING?

After a procedure the colour implanted will be darker, more intense. This will last for a few days until the area exfoliates and the true colour emerges. Generally it is only you who notices the darker colour. If anaesthetic is used you may swell slightly and have a reddening of the area - this will go down usually by the end of the day. It is suggested that if you are having an eyeliner procedure that you bring a pair of dark glasses with you (as you may look as if you have been crying). A little inconvenient – but the long terms results are well worth it.

WHY DO I NEED A SECOND APPOINTMENT?

On the face it is better to under-do than over-do. After one month of healing we invite you back (at no charge) to have a top-up treatment. At this stage you will have had four weeks to get used to the micropigmentation, so you will be 100% sure as to how much darker/thicker you wish to go to achieve your desired result.

WHAT ABOUT AFTER-CARE?

You will be given a comprehensive after care guide after the treatment, along with verbal instructions and relevant after-care products.
