DERMAL FILLERS

Dermal fillers are used to restore volume to cheeks, soften laughter (nasolabial) and frown lines and add fullness to lips.

Dermal fillers are widely used to plump skin and soften and smooth lines. The results can last from 4 months to 2 years depending on the filler used.

Dermal fillers can also be used for facial sculpting. It is important to balance the face and sometimes we need to recreate cheekbones to avoid a heavy lower face.

At The Bosham Clinic we use Juvederm, Radiesse and Evolence because we believe they are the most effective currently available on the market.

Juvederm
Considered one of the “next generation” of hyaluronic acid fillers. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar in the body. Juvederm is a smooth gel and when injected into wrinkles restores a smoother, natural appearance to the face.

Evolence
A porcine derived collagen and gives minimal downtime with minimal post procedure swelling. The collagen has been treated to remove possibilities of allergic reactions. When used in the lips, Evolence has a much longer lasting duration then normal hyaluronic fillers.

Radiesse
Calcium hydroxylapatite suspended in an aqueous gel. Radiesse can last up to two years, depending on the patient’s age and area injected. It is excellent for facial contouring.

What can they be used for?

  • lip augmentation
  • cheek remodelling
  • nasolabial lines (smile lines)
  • mentolabial lines (chin lines)
  • glabellar lines (frown lines)
  • volume restoration to lower face

The treatment procedure
After the initial consultation and photographs taken for clinical records, anaesthetic cream will be applied. Depending on the area, a local nerve block (similar to dental block) will be performed to maximise patient comfort. The specific filler will be injected and an instant result will be achieved.

How long do the results last?
It very much depends on the specific filler used and also the area where it is injected. Some patients prefer to have a top up after 3-4 months to enhance the longevity of the filler. Fillers can last from 4 months up to 2 years.
